What to Do When Someone is Copying You (& How to Protect Your Business Ideas)
Are you scared of someone else stealing your business idea?
Let’s be real, this is probably every business owner's biggest nightmare…
In this post, I'm going to be showing you exactly what to do when someone is copying you and how to deal with it properly. Unfortunately this is something that happens a lot in this space so I want every single one of you to be prepared and protect your ideas as your own.
A personal story when someone copied me and how I dealt with it.
I had someone COMPLETELY take Five Figure Flow…
When I say completely, I REALLY mean it. They took the whole funnel, the whole opt-in, and even my emails. The sales page was exactly along with the modules and graphics so you can imagine how aggravated I was.
I was more mad at the fact that I spent years and years developing this process and invested a whole lot of money into my trademarks, curriculum, etc. Invasive is the only word to explain what I was feeling.
Steps on what to do when someone copies you.
Step 1: Start with your mindset because it can be really easy to go into a mental spiral when this happens. Having a support system there for you will keep you on your keep and help you remember who you are. Remember, when someones copying you, you are ALWAYS five steps ahead.
Step 2: Do not emotionally react! DMing that person is not going to do a single thing except make you more angry. There is no competition when someone takes your stuff, even though it may seem like it, you always have the upper hand. The best thing to do is not to react or allow them to belittle you.
Step 3: Let your legal team handle it so that it can be handled in a graceful and professional way. Having a legal team there to protect your business is sooooo important and I cannot stress this enough. When FFF got ripped off, I was able to go right to my lawyer, and because everything was trademarked, it was an easy process.
